BAPO

All TayCare's Orthotists are members of BAPO (British Association of Prosthetics and Orthotists). The Association aims to encourage high standards of prosthetic and orthotic practice, continued professional development and education as well as enhancing standards of prosthetic and orthotic care.

The British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (BAPO) was established to support the prosthetic and orthotic profession in the UK. BAPO is the only UK professional body that represents prosthetists, orthotists and associated professionals and almost 100% of the profession are members.

The Association aims to encourage high standards of prosthetic and orthotic practice, continued professional development and education as well as enhancing standards of prosthetic and orthotic care

The Core Funtions of BAPO are

• Produces and updates a series of guidelines for best practice.
• Maintains an ethical code.
• Distributes knowledge and information relating to members, affiliates and other healthcare professionals.
• Develops and runs educational courses.
• Promotes continuing professional development.
• Provides advice to members and interested parties.
• Represents the profession on government bodies and through membership of the Allied Health Professions Forum.
• Organises the largest prosthetics and orthotics annual conference in the UK.

All TayCare orthotists are members of BAPO and attend the annual conference. The conference hosts a series of workshops, seminars and discussion groups running alongside the traditional invited speakers.

The conference is an ideal opportunity to meet other BAPO members and to see initiative products that are new to the market.
