ORTHOTIST – Teesside
We have an exciting opportunity for an Orthotist to bring their enthusiasm to our dynamic, growing team. We would welcome expressions of interest from experienced and newly qualified Orthotists to apply for this role.
Based in Teesside and North Yorkshire, providing services for both The James Cook University Hospital and North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Trusts, with a wide range of district general and specialist services such as neurosciences, spinal injuries, major trauma and vascular surgery.
The role involves working within a variety of clinics, primarily based in a large regional trauma centre. Clinic types include diabetic and paediatric MDT, general out patient, special needs schools and complex in patient management.
A team of 6 Orthotists work closely, allowing mentorship, regular discussion and communication to the ensure best patient care is provided. CPD time is built into the role to allow for involvement in training and clinical projects of interest.
You will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of clinical work, developing a strong relationship with the multidisciplinary team and liaising with the technicians in our manufacturing facility, ensuring we maintain our high “right first time” target.
Successful applicants will implement suitable and effective orthotic treatment plans and agree outcome goals for all patients.
The applicants must have a good level of understanding to enable assessment and treatment of a variety of conditions including; diabetes, trauma (including spinal), MSK, paediatrics and neurorehabilitation. There will be further support available through your colleagues in the neighbouring hospitals and experienced clinicians from within the TayCare team.
There will be sufficient time allowed within the working week for CPD and to be involved in company projects, including, clinical, technical and IT development. There is potential to include new projects should candidates have a particular interest area.

Essential requirements include:

If you are due to graduate this year, we would love to talk to you about joining Taycare Medical as patient care, delivering consistent, high-quality products and working really hard to get it “right first time.” We are looking to take on a couple of graduates - one in the North of England at a variety of clinical locations close to our Leeds manufacturing unit and one based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and surrounding clinics.
It sounds like a cliché but we are big enough to offer you a broad and varied range of work and clinic settings, but small enough to really care about you as a person. We’re family owned, based in Leeds and our Managing Director, Philip Taylor, is an Orthotist who works as a clinician four days a week - so our 21 Orthotists really are at the heart of everything we do. We also have a large factory where over 60 technicians create bespoke products, including custom and modular footwear. We have some private work but predominately we look after NHS patients and we cover a variety of patient settings schools, inpatients and domiciliary visits. You’ll initially work alongside one of our experienced Orthotists and as you gain confidence and knowledge, you’ll work more autonomously and with other multi-disciplinary health care teams.

You’ll need to be HCPC registered by the time you start work, hold a full UK driving licence and we’d also like you to be a member of BAPO. We will also carry out a full DBS check prior to your start date.
